Krista Poole, CEO
Krista Poole joined the CanLearn Society as Chief Executive Officer in 2012, where she leads a talented and creative management team.
Before joining CanLearn, Krista was the Executive Director of Calgary Learns; a granting agency that works closely with the Government of Alberta. Before Calgary Learns, she was a Senior Manager with Chinook College and the Education Manager with YMCA Calgary.
Krista is well-known in the non-profit sector as a big picture thinker, innovator, connector and influencer. She has a deep interest in working with at-risk-populations and ensuring access to learning for people with learning challenges.
Krista has been a recipient of the United Way Spirit of Gold award for her work in diversity and was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Community Adult Learning Award in 2010. Under Krista’s leadership, Calgary Learns was the recipient of an organizational leadership award from Literacy Alberta.
Krista holds a BA in International Relations, a TESL certificate, a B.ED with Distinction and taken an MBA-related stakeholder relations course. Krista has been involved in the Leadership Calgary, XD (Executive Directions) and Fast Pitch programs and has developed a close-knit and collaborative network of nonprofit, business and government colleagues throughout Calgary and Alberta.

Dr. Heather Baker, R.Psych., Director of Clinical Services
Dr. Baker is a Registered Psychologist and Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor through Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary. She holds a doctorate in School Psychology and a master’s in Clinical Psychology (both through the University of British Columbia). Dr. Baker specializes in assessment and program planning for individuals with anxiety, learning, attention, and behavioural challenges across the lifespan. She enjoys providing supervision to practicum and internship students and participating in research partnerships in the community. She is the chair of CanLearn’s Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Dr. Baker joined CanLearn in 2018.

Jaime Gaber, MSc, CCC, Clinical Programs Coordinator
Jaime Gaber, MSc is a Canadian Certified Counsellor through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She holds a master’s degree in School Psychology (through the University of Calgary). Jaime is the coordinator of clinical programs at CanLearn and manages, coordinates and oversees community-based and in-house programs for individuals with social-emotional, learning, attention, and behavioural challenges. She enjoys supervising staff and volunteers, supporting program development and participating in research partnerships in the community. Jaime joined CanLearn in 2014.

Nada Jerkovic, Manager, Literacy Programs
Nada is currently the Manager of Literacy Programs at CanLearn. She has worked in family and adult literacy for over twenty years, serving in various roles: instructor, coordinator, program developer, professional development facilitator, and regional family literacy network coordinator. Nada’s background includes teaching experience at elementary, high school and community college levels. Nada’s work is rooted in the belief that learning is foundational to life success.
