Early Literacy Program for Childcare Centres

The program gives free books to children who need more books of their own, and literacy resources and workshops to child-care providers and parents.

Being surrounded by lots and lots of books in the home helps children build their literacy skills and builds a joy of reading.

What to expect?

  • An early literacy facilitator will visit your centre five times and read with children.
  • You will learn easy ways to engage children in your care during story time.
  • At the end of the program, each child will receive a free book to take home, keep and share with their family.

Did you know?

A child growing up in the home with at least 80 books will have greater literacy in adulthood.

The intake registration process for Share the Magic follows an annual cycle – September to June. As long as space remains in the program, you can register.
