These resources can help you if you or someone in your family is experiencing a crisis.

Crisis Support - Parent & Caregiver Resources

Distress Centre

Distress Centre Calgary (DCC) provides 24 hour crisis support, professional counselling, youth peer support and referrals. They provide a 24 hour Crisis Line that is available by Text or by Phone.  403-266-4357 (HELP).

Community Resource Team – Wood’s Homes

Wood’s Homes provides families, couples and individuals immediate, no-cost mental health support. If you need mental health support call 403-299-9699. Visit their website  for more information.

Mobile Response Team

MRT offers urgent mental health support, and / or consultation in crisis situations. They have the ability to arrange urgent psychiatry assessments and referrals as needed. MRT provides mobile and telephone mental health services. Contact the Distress Centre to access this service.  403-266-4357 (HELP).

Eastside Family Centre

Eastside provides a walk-in family counselling service for anyone who is experiencing a self-defined mental health, social, or personal concern. They provide immediate, no-cost, confidential walk-in counselling. This service is provided by Wood’s Homes. Call 403-299-9696 for more information or to book a time.

Families Matter

Families Matter provides online and in-person classes that are designed to support a range of learning needs for all families.

Children’s Cottage Society of Calgary

The Children’s Cottage provides support to children and their families by providing shelter for children and help to parents. You can contact them by calling 403-233-CARE (2273).

South Calgary Health Centre

Same day single session therapy available for clients of all ages Monday to Friday. There is no cost for this service. Clients seeking a single session of counselling can call 403-943-9374 to schedule an appointment.

Mental Health Help Line

The Alberta Health Services Mental Health Help Line is a 24 hour, 7 day a week, 365 days a year, confidential service that provides support, information and referrals to Albertans experiencing mental health concerns. You can call from anywhere in Alberta 1-877-303-2642 (Toll free)

The Children’s Cottage provides support to children and their families by providing shelter for children and help to parents. You can contact them by calling 403-233-CARE (2273).

CMHA Calgary

CMHA Calgary builds awareness and provides education and support for individuals and families living with a mental health or substance use concern or a loss by suicide. Visit their website to book a session.

EQUIPPED offers online mental health courses and resources for young adults. It provides an online platform for learning through modules and workbooks. 

Urgent Mental Health Services – Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre

Urgent mental health services are available with no appointment through the Urgent Care department at the Sheldon Chumir Urgent Care department.

Psychiatric Emergency Services – Foothills Medical Centre

Provides crisis intervention and psychiatric assessment to patients within the emergency department referred by an emergency room physician. Also provides mental health assessments and recommendations to the physician.

Urgent mental health services are available with no appointment through the Urgent Care department at the Sheldon Chumir Urgent Care department.
